HOW TO PREPARE FOR O LEVELS ENGLISH
How to prepare for O levels English
When it comes to English it is one of the toughest subject of o'levels especially when you are a foreigner and do not use English as a mother tongue it was very hard....... even though my English was very good because of our flawless institute but still it was a competitive subject. But I was able to score top marks so here are my top five tips. if you follow them they help us well ,let's get started
1: In English paper 2 always always choose story because the other topics that you are given are comparative essay or a discursive essay etc.......... they require lots and lots and lots of your English skills and if you don't have the perfect guts you are not able to score that much .whenever it comes to story writing you are never penalized on your ideas as they do not matter . it is always your language that matters but if you have a good story in your head you are able to produce good piece of writing and it impresses the examiner and in story writing there is a wide range of marks in the mark scheme where as in comparative essay they demand direct and to the point produced content, that should be perfectly accurate . so i would suggest choosing a story . It will be a good idea to have a list of bombastic words and Quotes and similes and phrases in your mind and try to push everyone of them in your story where ever it suits....😃😃😃
2: English comprehensions are a real kick on face, literally the most difficult thing I've ever experienced because the questions are dam tricky and there answers are super implicit and you never get an idea of what exactly they are taking . that's why I will suggest to read the paragraph again and again and try to get the main Idea of what exactly they are asking and honestly this skill can only come by practice ............i cannot explain how many past papers we did until we were confident enough to appear in exams.. and another way may be watching new movies or attending spoken classes so you get an idea of what exactly is stated in the paragraph. every answer you write should be perfectly accurate even if you make a mistake of missing a full stop believe me they don't give you marks you marks even if you have extracted out the implicate meaning. always start the sentence of your answer with capital letters and keep your grammar extremely accurate put a full stop at the end ,these are all the basic things but if you miss them you don't get much so keep them in mind.
3: Ok so this 5 marks question of word/meanings is very tricky and nowadays they give u this in form of MCQs I would not suggest just going through all kinds of word for example our sir what he did he gave us a list of about 500 words with their meaning as homework to memorize and I even didn't go through a single of that shit honestly speaking........... because I knew that those were not the words that are coming in the paper. the words asked are simple but the options you are given all four of them would mean the or be related to meaning of word the main thing they judge you on is how much exact you can guess what the word means in the paragraph. even if its not Suiting the word I hope you understand what I am saying.
4: OK talking about paper One , directed writing so if you are given a formal letter or a formal report or formal anything try to be to the point and do not use any kind of bombastic words they want you to be as simple and as accurate as possible but if you are given a story or a speech then just go in your own way of writing because there is lots and lots of range if you are given a comparative essay I will again suggest you to be to the point and accurate and not be bombastic or stylish they want your accurate writing when it comes to writing speeches get the whole of your bombastic nature out this is where they want you to be energetic and a symbol of energy for your on audience.
5 : Last but not least the night before exam I would suggest you to go through lots and lots of energetic quotes keep that in mind different kinds of similes phrases and even if you are writing summary . and in summary you have to make points with the 12 points you have already made on the previous page do not make the summary of the comprehension use the 12 points and condense them as much as you can and I am sure you will do well......................... good luck
